There is some fantastic scenery in Switzerland, and some amazing
mountain railways, and a few impeccably restored steam engines which are
allowed out on the "main line". After three weeks’ research in the
country last summer, John and Angelina, who will both lead the Tour,
have put together an introductory trip around SW Switzerland which will
include some amazing train rides (some of them steam hauled) through
some awe-inspiring scenery. From centre to centre, we will travel by
rail (not bus), and each participant will be issued with a Swiss Pass
(free travel on most public transport anywhere in the country, including
not only trains but also lake steamers and municipal bus and tram
operators). Our carefully-selected hotels are all close to a station.
